Pictures

The picture of each link, fixed pictures and how photos are handled.

# Two kinds of picture

  • Link image: each link brings its own picture, so one design can serve many links. Link image.
  • Fixed picture: a logo or banner kept with the portal, the same for every link. Up to 4 per page. Fixed picture.

# Where a link's picture comes from

  • A file from your computer or phone (PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 1.5 MB).
  • An address: a picture on the web (https), copied into FlashLink. It is fetched again when the destination changes.
  • The target of the link: when the link leads straight to a picture.

The portal's Picture rules say whether each link brings its own picture, whether the target is used, and whether a link that uses the portal must have a picture.

# Photos and location

The GPS position a phone adds to a JPEG photo is erased from the picture that visitors download. If you want the place shown, use a map block: it reads the position when you upload the photo.

The Map component can use that position on purpose, to show where a photo was taken.

# Rotation and fit

Rotate a picture, and choose how it fills its space: normal, fill (crops) or contain (shows it whole). Fill and contain matter when the picture has a fixed height.
